Women constables posted as Muharars in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on Tuesday posted female constables as Muharars in nine out of 17 police stations in the district to provide a friendly environment for women complainants to lodge cases.

“We are introducing a modern policing system aimed at ending all forms of gender-based violence and providing women complainants with an environment where they can lodge their FIRs without any social barriers,” Shafiullah Khan Gandapur, the District Police Officer (DPO), told a function attended by the newly posted female constable Muharars.

The Superintendent of Police (Central), Rashim Jehangir, was also in attendance.The DPO said that female constables will soon be posted as Muharars in the remaining police stations in the district. “Cases of cybercrime against women are on the rise, but many women are reluctant to come forward and lodge complaints. However, the situation has changed with the posting of female constables as Muharars,” he said.

He directed the station house officers of all police stations to extend full support and cooperation to the newly posted female constable Muharars so that they could better serve the women complainants.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police Hazara, Nasir Mehmood Satti made the appointment as sub-inspectors of two youths whose fathers were martyred in the line of duty.A press release issued here stated that Saif Sajid and Mubashar Khan were appointed under the son quota of Sajid Khan and Chanzeb, who were martyred while fighting terrorism.According to the press release, IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur recently increased the employment quota for the sons of martyrs from five percent to 12.5 percent.
